Saturday Was Good Day To Run

At high noon Saturday these 76 Class 4A girls embarked on the 5K State Cross Country Championship run on the grounds of Fort Mackenzie. Nineteen minutes and fifteen seconds later Tabitha Simmons of Campbell County High School crossed the finish line in first place. Sophomore Janika Sweeney was the first of the seven Sheridan girls to finish - she finished the 5k run in 32nd place with a time of 21:06.23. In the boys race seven of the 79 that ran were from Sheridan, including Sheridan's top finisher junior Taylor Bruso in 15th place with a time of 16:54.74. Overall the girls finished in 11th place while the boys finished in 10th.
