A media release issued by the Sheridan Police Department states that at approximately 1330 hrs on October 9, 2012, the Sheridan Police Department received a report of a Golden Eagle perched on a house on the 1600 block of South Thurmond Ave.
Community Service Officers recognized that the raptor may have been ill as eagles have been rarely observed within the city. The bird was captured, after conferring with officials from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, with minimal stress placed on it. The eagle was turned over to representatives of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department who will evaluate it and determine the best course of action for its care.
The incident was the first report of a Golden Eagle in the city received by the Sheridan Police Department.
