Friends of the Library Makes Donation

The Friends of the Library presented a $52,000 check to Sheridan County Public Library System Director Cameron Duff at the library’s board of directors meeting April 16. The donation brings the total amount donated by the Friends group to more than $1 million over 31 years.

The money was raised during the Friends of the Library’s 31st annual fundraiser auction in November 2013. The $52,000 amount represents the net proceeds from the event.

Donations made by the Friends of the Library supplement the library’s annual budget and all proceeds are used to purchase materials and other enhancements for the library.

“This amount represents nearly one-third of the entire books budget which makes it so much easier for staff to purchase the latest materials for our customers,” Duff said. “I want to thank the Friends of the Library and also the community as a whole for helping support the library and I hope everyone will enjoy the new materials purchased through this donation.”

The donation presentation is made annually in conjunction with National Library Week, held this year April 13 to 19.
