Earth Day @ Woodland Park Elementary

Posted in

Annie Wollenzien's first grade class at Woodland Park Elementary did their part for Earth Day by touring the area around their school with refuse bags in hand "picking up trash." Earth Day was actually April 22nd but for these students it was Monday at almost high noon when they did their part. It was a beautiful day with the temperature near 80 degrees and everyone enjoyed being outside and being helpful. In case you are wondering when Earth Day first started read on. Earth Day was first suggested by John McDonnell in 1969 at a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Conference on the Environment and has been celebrated ever since.
