SFR Handles 2 Minor Fires

Firefighters dealt with two minor fires during the past few days with no injuries, according to Sheridan Fire-Rescue. A grass fire burned 400 feet below Mavrakis Pond last Wednesday, and a fire destroyed a motor home on KROE Lane on Sunday.

(Pictures 1 & 2)SFR believes the fire started Sunday morning when the motor home was in the process of being scrapped, and a cutting torch was being used to remove parts. The fire occurred on property managed by Sheridan resident Rick Rowland.

(Third picture) Excessive now-dry growth from last year's wet spring combined with gusty spring winds accelerated the grass fire below Mavarakis Pond on Wednesday, March 21. SFR believes it was caused by kids playing with matches or smoking materials.
