Beginning next week Wyoming Department of Transportation crews will start the process of re-opening the 22-mile stretch of scenic mountain road from Burgess Junction to Lovell.
This stretch of Highway is seasonally closed in November and typically re-opens around Memorial Day.
The process to re-open this stretch of highway can take several weeks. It is anticipated that it may even take longer this year because of the abundance of snow that has fallen in the Big Horn Mountains.
As crews begin snow removal efforts in this area, they always keeps in mind that it is still winter on the mountain, and that winter weather continuously complicates their snow removal efforts.
Weather permitting WYDOT is hoping to have motorists back on this stretch of highway by Memorial day.
