He grew up and attended school in Parkman. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the service, Bill worked construction. He married Hilda Needens on October 29, 1949, in Buffalo, WY. They moved to Midwest, WY, where he worked in the oil fields for Standard Oil. He moved to Sheridan in 1961 and worked for Big Horn Coal until he retired. Bill was a member of Elks Lodge #520 and the American Legion. Bill enjoyed walking, hunting, fishing, playing pool and cards, and doing yard work.
Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two
sisters.

Mrs. Bach was born on March 28, 1923, in Kleenburn, Wyoming, to Bruno and Elizabeth (Varcalli) Polito. She attended school at Squirrel Creek. The family then moved to Sheridan, where she later met and married Ray Bach in Sheridan in 1952.
Mary was a faithful member of Holy Name Church, and loved spending time with her family, as well as gardening, sewing and cooking.
Mrs. Bach was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Josephine Polito. Survivors include her husband Ray Bach of Sheridan; her son Marty and his wife Karen of Sheridan; her three sisters Rose Baker and her husband Max of Sheridan, Ellen Polito of Sheridan, and Lois Lewis of Hardin, Montana; and two grandchildren Jessica and Tye Bach.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Holy Name Catholic Church with The Reverend Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Carmella was born on June 26, 1914, in Kleenburn, Wyoming, to Bruno and Francesca (Carozza) Panetta. Prior to her graduation from high school, she assisted her father in running the two grocery stores, one in Kleenburn, and one located where the Golden Steer is currently. Following her graduation from high school, Carmella worked for several years, managing the Sweetbriar Shop in Sheridan. On June 16, 1946, she married Irwin W. Ball in Sheridan, Wyoming. The couple had two children. Mrs. Ball enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, sewing, golfing, and dancing, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Sheridan Country Club, the Altar & Rosary Society, her Bridge Club, and a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Mrs. Ball was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two of her sisters Jean Panetta and Ethel Yorio; and her three brothers Walt Panetta, Joe Panetta, and Frank Panetta. Survivors include her son Richard Ball and his wife Pamela of Sheridan; her daughter, Debbie Powell of Sheridan; her two granddaughters, Telese Powell of Tallahassee, Florida, and Katherine Ball of Sheridan; and her great-granddaughter Elise Conant.
Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at Holy Name Catholic Church with The Reverend Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The family returned from Laramie to Sheridan in December, 1986. David grew up in Sheridan and was attending the 10th grade in Sheridan High School. He was a member of the FFA, High School Rodeo Assn., and in Jr. Hi. the Eco Club. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, dancing, country music, working outdoors, fixing his truck and socializing with everyone.

Sula was born on December 9, 1908, in Howard County, Texas, to Robert and Alice (Woodward) Harvey. Following her school years, she married Fred Bradley on May 4, 1929. Her primary interest in life was caring for her family. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed rug weaving. In later years, she enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends.
Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by her parents ; her husband Fred on May 4, 1977; and her two daughters, Alice Charlene Vann on February 10, 1985, and Alverna Dale Ludolph on June 25, 1985. Survivors include her four daughters, Patsy Ruth McKinney of El Cajon, California, LeVauna Melton and her husband Bob of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lauretta Scobee and her husband Hank of Ranchester, Wyoming, and Mary Beth Richard of Yuma, Arizona; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Gussie Alice Cornell of Snowflake, Arizona.
Cremation has taken place, and services and interment will be at a later date in Roswell, New Mexico. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (Memphis, TN) for pediatric cancer care and research.
Donald was born on November 10, 1935, to Ione Pope. Don married Shirley Ferris on October 16, 1961, and the couple had two sons. Don worked for Kerr McGee as a safety technician for 20 years. They moved to Sheridan five years ago, and have lived here since. Don loved to hunt and fish, and always enjoyed furthering his education, completing both high school and a year of college in his later years.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Sheridan; his two sons Kelly with his wife Kathy of Vancouver, Washington, and Kerry with his wife Robin of Dolan Springs, Arizona; his three grandchildren, Christa M. Clament, Dena Murphy, and Nicole Murphy; and his two great-grandchildren Caleb Clament and Branden Clament.
Cremation has taken place, and private family memorial services will be held. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He was born October 8, 1925, at Hooper, Utah, to Leland S. and Leona Brown. They moved to Worland, Wyoming, in 1926 where he spent his childhood. He was a Veteran of World War II. He returned to Worland, where he met and married Alberta Williams on April 28, 1946. He worked in the roofing business with his father and brothers the biggest part of his life. His love of life was fly fishing on Ten Sleep Creek and hunting the Big Horn Mountains for elk. He was a Wyoming native and was never content anywhere else.
He is survived by his sisters Thema Schmidt of Georgetown, Texas, and Beverly Hankins of Shell, Wyoming, and his brother Jerry R. Brown of Shell, Wyoming.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Mrs. Bury was born on February 13, 1921, in Acme, Wyoming, to George and Mary (Kawulok) Legerski. Following her school years, she married Joseph George Bury in Monarch, Wyoming.
Eva was a faithful member of Holy Name Church, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Bury was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, and one sister. Survivors include her two sons Tom and his wife Dannon of Stansbury Park, Utah, and Richard of Worland, Wyoming; her four grandchildren, Todd, Scott, Jennifer, and Sarah; her two great-grandchildren Andrew and Kaitlin; her five brothers; and two sisters.

Theresa was born on August 22, 1927, in Anaconda, Montana, to Dr. William and Frances (Corrigan) Long. She graduated from high school, and continued her education, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Theresa worked as a schoolteacher for three years, and married Harry Cosner on August 1, 1953, in Anaconda, Montana. The couple had three children, and Theresa taught for ten years in Riverton, Wyoming, after the children were in school. Harry and Theresa moved to Sheridan in 1992 to be near two of their children.

her parents, her sister Margaret Long, and her stepmother Lillian Barry
Long. Survivors include her
husband Harry of Sheridan; her son James Cosner and his
wife Debbie of Sheridan; her two daughters, Diane Swan and her husband
Davis of Sheridan, and Marian Day and her husband Richard of Van Nuys,
California; and her nine grandchildren, James Petrilli, Christopher Petrilli,
Lindsay Egginton, Adrianne Swan, Rachael Swan, Hannah Swan, Cori Cosner-Burton,
Andrea Cosner, and Patrick Cosner.

John was born on October 20, 1918, to Patrick and Agnes (Magner) Cummings in Rawlins, Wyoming. Following his graduation from high school, he attended the University of Wyoming, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and became a pharmacist. He joined the Army in August of 1942, and married Ivy Barksdale on October 4, 1942, in Sacramento, California. John served in the Army as a Pharmacist until January of 1946, when he separated from the military and began his career as a self-employed Pharmacist. He and his wife were blessed with three children.
Mr. Cummings enjoyed fishing, skiing, and mechanics. He was a master mechanic and carpenter, who loved the mountains and living in Story, Wyoming. He also loved his profession as a Pharmacist, and unselfishly gave of his time and professional skills to thousands of people over the years as owner of Professional Pharmacy.
Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Ivy of Story; his daughter Dr. Mary Cummings Talaga of Fair Oaks, California; his two sons Dr. Pat Cummings and his wife Becky of Sheridan, and Mike Cummings and his wife Beth of Helena, Montana; his seven grandchildren Patrick Everett Cummings of Story, Josh Sharp of Gillette, Wyoming, Abby Sharp of Powell, Wyoming, John Talaga of San Diego, California, Kevin Talaga of Santa Barbara, California, and Brian and John Cummings of Helena, Montana; his four great-grandchildren; and his two sisters Margaret Cummings and Jeannette Ramundo Cummings, both of Sacramento, California.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family graveside service will be held at the Quiet Rest Cemetery in Story, Wyoming, at a later date. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Rob was born on August 18, 1950, to Robert E. and LaVonne (Lash) Dempsey in Casper, Wyoming. Following his 1968 high school graduation in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, he attended college for a time, and in 1970, he married Patricia L. Meyer in Casper, Wyoming. The couple had two children, Chris and Geraldine. They moved to Sheridan in 1974, divorcing in 1982. Rob married Charlene Swearngin on August 26, 1989, in Sheridan, Wyoming. The couple made their home in Sheridan, where Rob worked for 25 years for Decker Coal Co.
Rob was the founding member and drummer of the band “Cruisin”. He founded the local Gold Wing Road Riders Chapter, Big Horn Mountain Cruisers, was the Chapter Director for 1 year, and was the Wyoming District Director for 3 years. Rob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing with the band, motorcycling, woodworking, golfing, playing tennis, traveling and most of all, living every minute of life to the fullest with his wife Char. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1972 and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He coached little league for seven years, and was the head coach for the Sheridan Little League All-State Team for two years.
Rob is survived by his wife Char Dempsey of Sheridan, Wyoming; his daughter Geraldine Patch of Sheridan, Wyoming; his son Chris Dempsey and his wife Toni of Great Falls, Montana; his four grandchildren, Shantel Dempsey, Ashley Johnson, Taylor Johnson, and Brayden Dempsey; his father Robert E. Dempsey of Quitman, Texas; his mother LaVonne Davis and her husband Albert of Casper, Wyoming; his sister Vicki Young and her husband Glenn of Miles City, Montana; and his two brothers Kris Robins and his wife Val of Kirksville, Missouri, and Dale Dempsey and his wife Holly of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2002, at First Christian Church with the Reverend Doug Goodwin officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

He grew up and graduated high school in Mayville. He attended college at Mayville State and Iowa State. After college, he returned to Mayville and began farming. Alvin married Pearl Strom, the love of his life, on December 15, 1939, in Mayville Lutheran Church and where members there all their lives. Alvin farmed and ran poultry operation until retiring in 1963. After retirement, he enjoyed carpentry work and woodworking. He also enjoyed walking (four miles everyday), football, telling jokes and visiting and interacting with people. He loved his grandchildren and took special interest in them.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; son Darryl
in 1979; brother Orlo; and three sisters Mae Cella, Faith Shelshok and
Helen Carlson.

Linda was seven years old when her mother passed away and her father passed away when she was seventeen. It was a struggle for Linda growing up without her parents. She lived on a farm south of Logan. The family then moved to Norton for a while before moving to Glade. Linda attended elementary school in Logan before moving to Norton and Glade. On November 23, 1987, Linda was united in marriage to Marvin Gaines at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Logan. This union was blessed with three daughters. Although she was married and running a household, Linda was still able to graduate from Phillipsburg High School with the class of 1988. Marvin and Linda lived in Logan all of their married life. Linda and Marvin were confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on March 30, 2002.
At the age of 15, Linda started going on harvest. After her marriage to Marvin, Linda became a partner with her husband in Gaines Custom Harvesting. She learned a lot over the years with many ups and downs. She and Marvin struggled to get where they are today. They shared many wonderful experiences being on the road together and have met many wonderful people and have a numerous amount of close friends. Marvin and Linda were blessed to find a special nanny and friend. Teresa Griffin went on harvest with them the year Brittany was born and continued to be their very close friend and nanny. They were also blessed to find Saskia Zelko who was their nanny when Teresa had to stay home and be with her mother. She was very good with the girls and a dear friend.
Linda was a very outgoing, happy person who always had a smile on her face. She never met a stranger, and was always there for her family and friends and would go out of her way to help anyone. Her family was the highlight of her life and they always came first, no matter what. She loved to cook, bake, and especially enjoyed decorating cakes. Brittany remembers her mom telling her that when you’re mad, the best thing to do is bake a loaf of bread because you can slam the dough down as hard as you want and it won’t hurt it. Brittany, Marcy and Bessie enjoyed helping their mom in the kitchen, cooking and baking. At Christmas, Linda always baked cookies and made candy to take to their friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her father John H. Ebner and her mother Dora Bessie (Swearingen) Ebner.
Survivors include her husband Marvin of the home; her three precious daughters, Brittany Elaine, Marcy Lynn, and Bessie Maria, all of the home; her five brothers John Ebner and wife Kathi of Logan, Edward Ebner and wife Eve of Sabetha, KS, Delbert Ebner of Russell, KS, Arthur Ebner and wife Kathy of Logan, and Alvin Ebner of Norton; her four sisters, Rosemary Shanks and husband Darrell of Idalia, CO, Alice Rohr and husband Darrell of Victoria, KS, Ruth Chambers and husband Brad of Edmond, KS, and Betsy Horn and husband Oliver of Boise, ID; her mothers-in-law, LaVera Ellis of Sterling, CO, and Virginia Gaines of Alma, NE; her brother-in-law Earl Gaines of Glade, KS; her sisters-in-law, Elaine Brown and husband Rich of Boise, ID, and Ellen Kemper and husband Gary of Phillipsburg, KS, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2002, at the Logan Christian Church in Logan, Kansas, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman and Carl Rodgers co-officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Logan, Kansas. Logan Funeral Home handled the funeral arrangements in Kansas, and Kane Funeral Home handled the local arrangements.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Ray Clark and Father David Duprey officiating. A reception will follow the service. Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday.
Born on June 23, 1919, to David E. and Frances S. Gwinn, Gerry was a native of Sheridan and lived there most of his life. He was a 1938 graduate of Sheridan High School and attended Kemper Military Academy and the University of Wyoming. He excelled in sports throughout his school years and was named to the All-State high school football team in his senior year.
He later shared his lifelong interest in sports with the audience of KROE radio's "Time In For Sports." He had a varied career in sales and marketing and for a time was associated with the Sheridan Commercial Company, a Gwinn family business for many years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Vernon S. and Rowena W. Griffith Foundation and was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge. Gerry loved the outdoors-whether fishing or hunting, tending his garden, or playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and George, and his first wife, Jean. Survivors include his wife, Agnes; sons Seth Gwinn of Fremont, Nebraska, and Geoff Tripalin of Madison, Wisconsin; stepdaughters Maureen and Barbara Humphrys; 4 grandchildren; and sister-in-law Elizabeth Gwinn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Grace was born on April 18, 1910, in Beaver County, Oklahoma, to John and Maude (Osborne) Blakesley, and the family moved to Dayton, Wyoming, in 1918. Following graduation from high school, she taught school at the Little Blue School on Five Mile Flat north of Dayton. She married John Hager, whom she had met through her teaching job, on December 20, 1930, in Sheridan, Wyoming. The couple had two children. Mrs. Hager enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, and yard work, and she loved spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of the Dayton Congregational Church, and was also a member of the Dayton School Benefit Club since 1945.
Mrs. Hager was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Mary Ann Smith, her parents, and her sister Gladys. Survivors include her son Peter Hager and his wife Sally of Dayton; her ten grandchildren; and her 18 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Logan officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Harvey was born on November 18, 1938, to Virgil and Dora (Carter) Harvey in Fort Collins, Colorado. Following high school, he married Darlene Struble and entered the Air Force for four years, where he served a tour in the Philippines. The couple lived in Seattle, Washington, for 22 years, where he worked as a mechanic and a truck driver. In 1990, following the death of his wife, he moved to Sheridan. On November 19, 1998, he married Carla Pritchett in Sheridan.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, bowling, and darts.
Mr. Harvey was preceded in death by his first wife Darlene; his parents; his sister Barbara Hunzelman; and his brother Walter Harvey. He is survived by his wife Carla of Sheridan; his daughter Christine Kautzman of Seattle, Washington; his three sons Ronald Harvey, Larry Harvey, and David Harvey, all of Seattle, Washington; his two stepdaughters, Talona Cordova of Hampton, Virginia, and Tannis Van Bibber of Sheridan; his two stepsons, Jon Van Bibber and Cale Luben, both of Billings, Montana; his nine grandchildren, Brianne Harvey, Kevin Kautzman, Sage Van Bibber, Brandon Van Bibber, Trevor Luben, Alexandria Luben, and Van Van Bibber, including two additional grandchildren in Seattle; his four sisters, Betty Kingsley of Fort Collins, Colorado, Marilyn Twite of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Carol Ann Becerra of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Susie Wapson of North Carolina; and his five brothers Marvin Harvey of Wellington, Colorado, Tom Harvey of North Glen, Colorado, Eddy Vail of Seattle, Washington, and Dean Vail of Washington, Allen Vail of Washington.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2002, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Terral Bearden officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Heckel was born October 19, 1947, in Wiesbaden, Germany. The family moved to the United States when Dieter was a child. Following his graduation from high school, Dieter attended college, and in December 1967, he entered the Army, and served his adopted country until 1974, after being awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Dieter is survived by his parents Robert and Ruth Heckel and his sister Barbara of Washington, his son Timothy, his brothers Carl and Roger, and his sister Susan, all of California.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be conducted in California at a later date.
Mrs. Hoffman was born on August 22,
1919, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Fred and Alice (Cossitt) Bechtold. She attended
Sheridan schools, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1936. Alice
also did some post-graduate work in Sheridan. She worked at Clouds Peak
T.V. for 12
years, and married Robert Hoffman in Sheridan in 1963.
Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing the organ, watching "Days of Our Lives", "Jeopardy", and "Wheel of Fortune", keeping up her correspondence with family and friends, and traveling. She also enjoyed playing darts, and was a member of a Wednesday night team and a Sunday team. She loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1987, her parents, her brother Arthur Gordon Bechtold in 1969, her sister Nina Couch in 1998, and her great-grandson Everett Allen Smith, Jr. in 1982. Survivors include her son Ken Harper of Alden, Pennsylvania; her daughter Pamela Sampson and her husband Sam of Sheridan; her niece Jean Bahnsen of Kingman, Arizona; her eight grandchildren, Debbie Knowlton of Gillette, Wyoming, Kevin Dennis, Hazel Ketcham of Bloomfield, Iowa, Brian Sampson and Billy Sampson of Yakima, Washington, Kenneth Harper of Wilmington, Delaware, and Andrew Harper, and James Harper of Wayne, Pennsylvania; and her thirteen great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Knowlton, Gabriel Knowlton, Kayla Knowlton, and Tommy Knowlton of Gillette, Wyoming, Kyle Ellenberger, Scott Ellenberger, Keith Ellenberger, Brian Sampson, Katie Sampson, Ashley Sampson, and Jessica Sampson of Yakima, Washington, and Cody Ketcham and Matthew Ketcham of Bloomfield, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2002. Lloyd was born on June 13, 1919, to Lloyd L. and Mary (O'Connell) Jackson in Casper, Wyoming. Following his graduation from high school, he joined the Army in June 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater until his discharge in December 1945. He married Norma Siegle on January 8, 1946, in Pueblo, Colorado, and the couple moved to Sheridan shortly thereafter. Their union was blessed with three children, and Lloyd worked as the Wirechief Manager of Communications for the CB&Q Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, building and home repair. He was an American Morse Telegrapher, Telephone and Telegraph Engineer, and a Teletype Repairman. He was also a founder of Sheridan House, Inc., and the Treasurer of the corporation since its founding. Lloyd was a member of the Board of Directors of the Sheridan Railroad Credit Union for over 30 years, a Boy Scout Troop Leader #108, a member of the Knights of Columbus,and an usher at Holy Name Catholic Church for 50 years.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald. He is survived by his wife Norma of Sheridan; his daughter Janet Lawrence and her husband Steve of Buffalo, Wyoming; his two sons Nicholas Jackson and his wife Margie of Yigo, Guam, and William Jackson and his wife Mary of Billings, Montana; his seven grandchildren Nichelle Littleton of Newport News, Virginia, Branden Lawrence of Vancouver, Washington, Travis Lawrence of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Robert Jackson of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Michael and Kerry Jackson of Billings, Montana, and Heather Lawrence of Buffalo, Wyoming; two great-grandchildren Tyler Jackson and Kelsey Lawrence; his three sisters Alice Wells of Eureka, California, Patty Bates of Redding, California, and Maxine Stancher and her husband Joe of Banning, California; and his brother Howard Jackson of Cottonwood, California.

The family moved to Sheridan where she attended school and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1928. She earned a teaching degree through the Normal Training Program and taught at Pasaic and Ucross. She met Fred Kaufmann while teaching at Ucross and they were married in Billings, MT, on June 4, 1932. They farmed for a short time on the Weagle Ranch at Ucross and on Prairie Dog Creek east of Sheridan before moving to Buffalo to operate a dairy farm. In 1943, they bought the Shady Lane Ranch in Ucross and lived there until they sold it in 1968 and moved into Sheridan. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1982. After Fred's death in 1990, she lived with her sister, Alice McConnaughey on Easy Street. Nellie was active in several community activities including: the Double Seven Club in Buffalo, the Piney Women's Club and Chapter AM, PEO. She sang in a gospel quartet composed of neighbors in the Ucross community. She served on the Ucross school board for several years and, although not an official 4-H leader, she supported and assisted with a number of local and county 4-H programs.
She was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and
three sisters.

Frank graduated from Ranchester High School where he played Basketball and Football. He worked for Monarch Coal Co. and ranched until he enlisted in the Air Force where he served from 1949 - 1953. He married and had three children. He was later divorced. In 1956, he went to work for the Wyo. Employment Security Comm. in Worland, WY. He transferred to the office in Sheridan in 1962 and was promoted to manager in 1964. Frank married Ellen Brantz on February 25, 1972. He worked for the WESC until he retired in July, 1987. Frank was a charter member of the Tongue River Rod & Gun Club and a member of the Ranchester Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a Past Pres. of the WY. Public Employees Assn. and an life member of the D.A.V. and Elks Lodge #520. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family in the mountains. He was always there to support his family.

Colter was born on August 17, 1991, in Gillette, Wyoming, to Mike and Diana (Richards) McCalla. He attended Meadowlark School in Sheridan, and enjoyed fishing and camping, playing soccer, and he loved to sing. He loved everyone, and always wanted to help if he could. He was very intelligent. His singing ability led to him being a member of this Children's Chorale. Colter is very much loved and very much missed.
Colter was preceded in death by his grandparents Rosalee and Charles McCalla. Survivors include his father Mike McCalla of Sheridan; his mother Diana McCalla of Sheridan; his grandparents, Sonny and Doris Richards of Sheridan; his two brothers Nick McCalla and Aaron McCalla of Sheridan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Miss McConnaughey was born January 21, 1909 in Highland County, Ohio to John W. and Elva (Willett) McConnaughey. She moved to Sheridan in 1916 and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1927.
Miss McConnaughey went to work for F. W. Woolworth store while in high school and continued to work there until she retired in 1974. During the war years, she was an assistant manager for the Woolworth store in Casper and a manager for the Woolworth store in Miles City, MT. Later she traveled to the Woolworth’s stores that were opening up and set up their offices.
After retirement, she traveled to all the places that she wanted to see and then went to work at Bi-Rite in Sheridan for several years. Miss McConnaughey always kept track of her many friends and relatives, and made jelly and other things for them regularly. She also made quilts from pieces her mother had put together for all of her family. She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church of Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Nellie Kaufmann, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Miss McConnaughey will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 7, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Keyes officiating. Burial of cremains will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Marcia was born on March 23, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Gustav and Beatrice (Lee) Breitzke. She married James McNutt, Sr., in Sandwich, Massachusetts on September 26, 1981. Marcia loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed crafts and working with horses.
Mrs. McNutt was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Jim McNutt, Sr., of Indianapolis, IN; her son Keith Spence of Xian, China; her two daughters Debora Banton of Rustburg, VA, and Lorelei Spence of Dallas, TX; and her five grandchildren, Keely Spence, Evan Spence, Lindsey Spence, Richard Petroff, and Amanda Petroff.

Lois R. Moore, age 89, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, in Sheridan Manor.
Lois was born August 21, 1912, in Wasta, S. Dakota, to Timothy and Mayme (McAdarah) Ryan. She grew up and graduated from high school in Douglas, WY. Lois graduated from Barnes Business College in Denver, CO, in 1932. She worked in the County Treasurer's office in Douglas. She married William Moore in Douglas in 1938. They ranched on the Hell In Back Ranch at Ross, WY, until the 1940's when they moved to the Sheridan area and ranched on the 7UP Ranch. Lois kept the books for all the ranches. They moved into Sheridan in 1955. In 1963, they moved to Story, WY, and also spent time on their ranch in California until they retired in 1972. After retirement, they lived in Story and Sun City, Arizona. Lois spent a great deal of time playing golf and played at many different courses. She also enjoyed going out to dinner, dancing, traveling, and reading. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Lois was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She was the sweetest of the sisters never having an unkind word to or about anyone. She always stayed in touch and relayed family news to the rest of the family.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and three sisters Rhoda Hunter, Betty Herbison and Helen Murphy.
Lois is survived by her sons Bob Moore & wife Connie of Clearmont, WY, Bill, Jr. and wife Frankie of Douglas, WY, and Roy & his wife Gloria of Casper, WY; daughter Kay Smith & husband Steve of Sheridan; sisters Ora Probst of Greybull, WY and Rita Wiese of Anaheim, CA; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Jessica was born on May 6, 1987, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Anthony and Andrea (Slates) Parton. She attended Big Horn schools until her freshman year, when she began attending Fort McKenzie High School. Jessica enjoyed playing basketball, spending time in the mountains, art, writing poems, and listening to her music, but she loved hanging out with her friends and spending time with her family.
Jessica was preceded in death by an infant brother. She is survived by her father Anthony Parton of Casper, Wyoming; her mother Andrea Slates of Sheridan; her two brothers Michael Parton of Sheridan, and Benjamin Parton of Olympia, Washington; her two sisters Jennifer Parker of Sheridan, and Christy Morman of Sparks, Nevada; her grandparents William and Frances Slates of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Marjorie Long of Sheridan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mrs. Phillips was born January 10, 1916 in Monarch, WY to Joseph and Minnie Maude (Rhine) Littler. The Littler family moved to Sheridan where Mrs. Phillips was raised and attended Sheridan schools. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1934.
Mrs. Phillips married David Phillips in Hardin, MT in 1939. They made their home in Sheridan, and Mrs. Phillips worked for the Sheridan School system from 1962 to 1972 as a custodian.
She enjoyed sewing, fishing, and loved the mountains. Every Sunday she and her husband would go for rides around the Sheridan area. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Sheridan.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 1 step-brother, and 1 step-sister. She is survived by her husband, Dave, of Sheridan; 2 sons, Don and his wife, Sylvia of Sheridan; Dave and his wife, Lorretta of Sheridan; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Alex was born on May 14, 1914, to Peter and Katherine (Hettinger) Pitsch in Billings, Montana. Following his school years, he ranched his entire working life at the Big Red at Ucross, Wyoming. He married LeOra Mathew on June 2, 1935. Their union was blessed with seven children. He enjoyed hunting and farming. He loved his family, and called all of his granddaughters and great-granddaughters "Toots" and all of his grandsons and great-grandsons "Joe". Alex was a life-long, active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served on numerous boards in the community and the state.
Mr. Pitsch was preceded in death by his parents , his four brothers, and his three sisters. He is survived by his wife LeOra of Sheridan; his three daughters Doris Schuman and her husband George, Jr., of Sheridan, Nelda Simonson and her husband Duane of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Patricia Ogan and her husband Ted of Reno, Nevada; his four sons Gerald Pitsch and his wife Vera of Oak Harbor, Washington, Leland Pitsch and his wife Della of St. Charles, Missouri, Curtis Pitsch and his wife Janice of Buffalo, Wyoming, and Peter Pitsch and his wife Madeleine of Rock Springs, Wyoming; his twenty-seven grandchildren; and thirty-four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rabe was born on August 5, 1908, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, to William and Pearl (Conley) Rabe. Following graduation from high school, Allen married Edweena Astin, and the couple were blessed with three children. He worked as a District Shop Foreman for the Wyoming Highway Department, retiring in 1974. Edweena passed away in 1982, and he later met Alta Foss. The couple was married in 1983, and they have made their home in Sheridan, spending the last 16 winters in Arizona. For the past two years, the couple has lived at Sugarland Ridge.
Allen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Masons, and enjoyed calling square dances for many years and spending time with his family.

Lloyd grew up on the farm near Hanover, PA. He attended schools in Hanover. Lloyd served in Army from 1963 - 1966. After the service, Lloyd married Faye Jones on August 14, 1967, in Hanover. He moved to Wyoming and attended the University of WY. He then moved to Colorado where he received his Bachelor & Master's degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. He received his welding certificate in Ft. Collins, CO. They moved back to Pennsylvania where he taught welding at Westmoreland County Community College until moving to Sheridan in 1977. Lloyd came to Sheridan College as they were creating the Welding program and has been an instructor there ever since. Lloyd was heavily involved in Boy Scouts as well as the Sheridan Wesleyan Church where his served on the Board of Trustees and taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Masonic Big Horn Mtn. Lodge #43 and the Sheridan County Sportsmen's Association. Lloyd enjoyed model airplane flying, hunting and four wheeling, Ham radio, leather working, blacksmithing, gunsmithing and reloading.

Mrs. Rushin was born on December 15, 1935, in Monarch, Wyoming, to Karl A. and Clara M. (McIntosh) Hofmeier. Karmae married Lee Rushin on November 25, 1953, in Sheridan, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1954. The couple then moved to Fort Worth, Texas. They later divorced, and she returned to Sheridan in 1979. Mrs. Rushin has been lovingly attended by her granddaughter Melissa Crokin, who has been her special care giver these last few weeks.
Karmae enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, baking, and candy making. She loved her toy poodle "Willie", and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Eagles #186.
Mrs. Rushin was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Beverly Ann Muneta; and her brother Richard Hofmeier. Survivors include her five daughters, Cheryl Ann Wall and her husband Gary of Cody, Wyoming, Clara Mae Sharp and her husband Mike of Forth Worth, Texas, Beverly Gay Henson and her husband Kenny of Auburn, Washington, Karlee Sue Rushin of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Erica Rae Rushin and her fiancee John of Sheridan, Wyoming; her fourteen grandchildren, Jesse Williams and husband Damon, Tiffannie Tuttle, Dustin Wall, Paige Wall, Amber Sharp, Sarah Sharp, Jennifer DeWoody and good friend Bill Mix, Bobby Rushin, Stephanie Rushin, Tabitha Fresorger, Desiree’ Fresorger, Melissa Crokin and good friend Matt Bates, Ryan Goodwin, and Krystal Rushin; and her four great-grandchildren, Beau Williams, Zion Mix, Trystan Tuttle, and Torrie Tuttle.
Cremation has taken place and private memorial services will be held. The family has requested that friends and relatives join them in celebrating Karmae’s life at the Elks Lodge #520 at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2002. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Scrutchfied was born December 4, 1941, in Sheridan to LeRoy L. and Dora Dean ( Burns) Scrutchfield. He grew up in Sheridan and attended Sheridan schools. He married Susan Bayie in August of 1966. They had two daughters. He married his second wife, Bonnie Higgins, in 1972 in Grand Junction, CO. They had one daughter.
Mr. Scrutchfield worked as a truck driver throughout his life. He hauled for Reeves Concrete, hauled logs for the Wyoming Sawmills of Sheridan and worked for various other trucking companies in the Sheridan area. In 1972, he started his own trucking business, D & L Trucking. For the past several years Mr. Scrutchfield had been working Craig Scheckla Trucking.
Mr. Scrutchfield enjoyed buying antique pickups, trucks and equipment. He had a passion for restoring these older vehicles.
Mr. Scrutchfield was preceded in death by bother of his parents. He is survived by 3 daughters, Rebecca Miller of Cheyenne, WY; Shannon Adams of Ferryville, WI; and Tonya Scrutchfield of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his brother, David Scrutchfield, of Sheridan; a step-brother, Doran Higgins, of Ekalaka, MT; a step-sister, Sandra Music, of Sheridan; his step-mother, Doris Scrutchfield of Sheridan; and two grandchildren.
A Memorial service for Mr. Scrutchfield will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 7th, 2002 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Cindy Shipley officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
In 1946 he and his local sweetheart,
Elizabeth "Chicky" Stanko were married. In 1952 he founded the Rocky Mountain
Packing Company in Casper, Wyoming. This meat company delivered fresh meats
to all four corners of the state of Wyoming, and was a major customer for
the
livestock producer of Wyoming and Western Nebraska. During
50's and 60's, the Rocky Mountain Packing Company was the largest meat
processing plant in the state with over 100 employees.
In 1971 he founded Nebraska Beef Packers in Gordon, Nebraska, and by the 1980's this plant and two other sister plants (Scottsbluff and Denver) became the largest cull cow and bull processors in the United States with a weekly slaughter of up to 7,500 animals. In 1985 and in the heat of the meat packing concentration, the United States Department of Agriculture withdrew the meat processing license. This plant has never been operated successfully since this incident. In the 1990's and to present date, he has been involved in successful alfalfa farming operation.
In his free time Rudy was an avid fly fisherman, hunter, and fan of professional fights on television. He had been a long standing member of the Elks Lodge in Casper, Wyoming, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Legion in Gordon, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Edward.
Survivors left to mourn his death include his wife Elizabeth of Gordon, Nebraska; sons, Rudy Jr. of Gordon, Nebraska, and Robert of Fort Collins, Colorado. Also surviving is his sister, Helen Burtus of Sheridan, Wyoming; his brother Henry of Casper, Wyoming; his six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
An informal wake will be held on Friday,
August 30, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Gordon, Nebraska.
Funeral services will
be held Saturday, August 31, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at the
same place. A viewing will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September
1, 2002, and from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2002,
at Kane Funeral Home. Interment will be near his father, mother and brother
in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery in Sheridan, Wyoming, on September 3,
2002, at 10:00 a.m. Cicmanec Chamberlain Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, Nebraska,
is handling the Nebraska arrangements. Kane Funeral Home is handling the
local arrangements.
The Stapleton's adopted him when he was a year old. He grew up and graduated high school in Billings, MT. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy during WWII serving in the South Pacific. He was assigned to the aircraft carrier Intrepid as an aviation machinist mate (AMM) for three years. After the service, he came to Sheridan where he apprenticed himself to an architect and learned the art of drafting and designing buildings. He worked on the Hammer Chevrolet building and many others. Bill worked hard at many jobs over the years including draftsman, ranch hand, log truck driver, construction carpenter and crew boss in other places in Wyoming. He returned to Sheridan about 1980. Bill married Mary Alice Rose in 1988 in Sheridan, whom he met in bible study class. He enjoyed fishing, photography, cooking and most of all computers.

Mrs. Stockhouse was born on April 20, 1910, on the Old Mosberg Ranch outside of Banner, Wyoming, to Elmer and Mayme (Armstrong) Barnes. Following her school years, she met Axel F. Stockhouse, Sr., and married him on February 16, 1931, in Sheridan, Wyoming. The couple made their home here, raising their children, and Esther worked at the V.A. Medical Center in the Laundry.
Esther was a faithful member of Holy Name Church, and loved spending time with her family, as well as gardening, sewing, reading, and watching sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Sheridan Broncs, Wyoming Cowboys, and Denver Broncos fan.
Mrs. Stockhouse was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Tom Brennan, her parents, her seven sisters, and brother. Survivors include her son Axel Stockhouse, Jr. and his wife Janet of Greybull, Wyoming; her two daughters, Josephine Butterfield and her husband "Sonny" of Roundup, Montana, and Carolyn Brennan of Sheridan, Wyoming; her eleven grandchildren, Mary Kay Legerski, Lauri Wood, L. Matt Brennan, Gayle Shaffer, Tina Shields, Teresa Fauth, Twila Butterfield, Justine Walker, Cynthia Fisbeck, Rick Stockhouse, and Cara Blank; her thirty great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2002, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2002, at Holy Name Catholic Church with The Reverend Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Donna was born on December 19, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to George and Eldina (Lent) Stephens. Following her school years, she married Frederick Whaley on September 9, 1950, in Washakie County, Wyoming. Donna enjoyed collecting dolls, and was a ceramic and china painting teacher. She was also a faithful member of the 700 Club.
Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her parents; her great-grandson, Nathan Taylor; her four brothers, Grant, Martin, Garth, and Howard Stephens; her husband Frederick Whaley; her brother-in-law Keith Whaley; and her sister-in-law Lois Ann Simpson. Survivors include her daughter Eldina "Ellie" Taylor of Boston, Massachusetts; her son David Whaley of Sheridan, Wyoming; her three grandchildren, Joseph Grimshaw, Nathan Taylor, and Deidre Taylor; her three great-grandchildren, James Grimshaw, Jadelynne Grimshaw, and Kaylee Taylor; her sister Virginia Dutton and her husband Bill of Marbleton, Wyoming; and her three sisters-in-law, Jackie Phillips and her husband Chester of Worland, Wyoming, Peggy Ludeke of Florida, and Nancy Osborn of Missouri.

Mr. Whaley was born on November 7, 1939, to Jack and Vivian (Bader) Whaley in Tensleep, Wyoming. After high school graduation, he worked for a time as a mechanic in the coal mining industry, and on June 21, 1995, he married Joyce E. Childers in Texas. The couple later moved to Bear Lodge in Dayton, Wyoming. Keith enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Whaley was preceded in death by his son Fred Whaley; his sister Lois Ann Simpson; his brother Fred Whaley; and his parents. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Dayton, Wyoming; his daughter Kathryn Whaley of Worland, Wyoming; his brother Phillip “Buddy” Whaley and his wife Ilene of Conrad, Montana; his three sisters, Jackie Philips and her husband Chester of Worland, Wyoming, Peggy Ludtke of Jackson, Wyoming, and Nancy Osburn of Seligman, Missouri; his stepson Wayne A. Deatherage and his wife Norma of Guymon, Oklahoma; his three stepdaughters, Melissa Hazlitt and her husband Ed of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Joyce A. Lafferty Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Sheila Haveman and her husband Mike of Ranchester, Wyoming; his twelve grandchildren, Matthew Whaley, Aaron Deatherage, Heather Scarbrough, Marc Mitchell, Breanna Hazlitt, Kayla Lafferty, Paige Lafferty, Stormy Lafferty, Skylar Lafferty, Jagger Lafferty, Ben Herden, and Daniel Herden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was born on December 30, 1942, to Perce and Dorothy (Brokaw) Wilkerson in Sheridan Wyoming. He attended Sheridan schools and Sheridan College. In 1960, he married Barbara Macha, and the couple made their home in Sheridan, raising their six children and numerous foster children. Jim became a Certified Dental Technician and worked with Doran Eldridge in Gillette, before returning to Sheridan and starting JAWS Dental Lab, which he operated until he became disabled in January of 2000.
Mr. Wilkerson’s primary interest was his children and grandchildren. He attended Mercy and Grace Ministries Fellowship, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and spending time in the Big Horn Mountains. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and playing cards with his friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Melanie K. Wilkerson; his parents; his brother William N. Wilkerson; his nephew David Wilkerson; and his great-nephew Aaron Carter. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Sheridan, Wyoming; his three daughters Kimmie Wilkerson and her fiancee’ Jerry Ring of Sheridan, Wyoming, Lori Wilkerson and her husband Chris Guimond of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Nanci Rasmussen and her husband Alan of Gillette, Wyoming; his two sons James Wilkerson, Jr. of Cuero, Texas, and Harold Wilkerson of Sheridan, Wyoming; his seven grandchildren, D.J. Roberts, Sherylann Guimond, Misty Roberts, Krystan Guimond, Heather Wilkerson, Kena Rasmussen, and Jessica Rasmussen; his sister Margaret Ketcham of Sheridan, Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
