Funeral services for Thelma Sand, 95 of Buffalo who passed away Saturday at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Friday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Reverend Connie Cranston officiating. Visitation will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Mrs. Sand’s memory may be made to the Buffalo Senior Center or the United Methodist Church in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

Thelma Woosley Sand was born on March 22, 1916 in Wheatland, Wyoming. She grew up and attended school in Wheatland and graduated from Wheatland High school with the class of 1933. After high school she attended the University of Wyoming where she received a degree in education. Thelma returned to Wheatland where she was a fourth grade teacher for many years. She moved to Buffalo where she taught school for several years and lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and John Osborn. Thelma met Bill Sand and they were married in Buffalo in 1947, one year after Bill returned from his overseas service with the United States Army during WWII. Bill and Thelma made their home in Buffalo where they raised their two boys and were married for 65 years. They continued living in Buffalo until the time of her death.

Thelma was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women and the church choir.

She is survived by her husband Bill Sand of Buffalo; two sons, Bill Sand Jr. of Buffalo and Rodney Sand of Gillette; one grandson Christopher Sand of Columbus, Mississippi and two great-granddaughters.
