Stanley Mervin Clarkson, 73, of Sheridan passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Stanley was born on December 18, 1937, to Helen Marie (Foss) and George Henry Burns, then later adopted by Ralph W. Clarkson. He grew up in Sheridan and he attended Sheridan High School. He served in the Wyoming National Guard. He married Fannie Joyce Krohn and together they had a son Stephen M. Clarkson, they later divorced. He later married Sharon Spicer on November 1, 1976 in Sheridan. He worked at the VA for forty two years mainly as a cook. He loved traveling to Hawaii, where he met lifelong friends, Bill and Betty Traylor, of St. Louis, MO, cruise on the Mexican Riviera, St. Louis and Branson, MO.
Stanley enjoyed fly fishing, time in the mountains, camping in the trailer at Bear Lodge, hiking and his pets; Princess Cassie, Miss Heidi and Mr. Grizz. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, John Overturf and brother Carl R. Burns. He is survived by his wife Sharon, son Stephen, brother Lloyd (Lori) Clarkson of Anchorage, AK, sisters; Ruth (Gene) Overturf of Nampa, ID, Marguerite "Chicki" Hill, of Billings, MT, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Stanley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with Pastor Charles Gifford officiating at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
