Shirley Jean Groshart, 81, of Sheridan passed away August 26, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan.
Shirley Jean Groshart was born June 9, 1928 in Paducah, Kentucky to Kenneth and Ruth Ryan. She was educated in Chicago, Illinois where she met Ralph Lloyd Groshart. They were married September 24, 1947 after his graduation from Northern Illinois College of Optometry. They moved to Sheridan in 1949. They have three sons, Mark (Debra) , Matthew (Jan), and Michael (Diana) Groshart, and a daughter, Musette (Dennis) Poll.
Dr. Groshart died on April 11, 1991.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, PEO, Eastern Star #2, Daughters of the Nile, and the Sheridan Country Club. Shirley enjoyed reading, playing cards and Scrabble, cooking, her roses, and her family.
Survivors include her four children and eight grandchildren, Jay Groshart, Amber Groshart-Gaona, Angela Poll-Hulbert and Abbie Poll-Johnson, Stephen, Graham, Nick and Maggie Groshart, great-granddaughters Alivia,and Aliya, brother Ron Robinson, and two nephews, Dan and Tom Robinson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan, with the Reverend Kevin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery in the Masonic Section. A gathering for family and friends will be at Shirley’s home, 1832 Fairway Lane, Sheridan.
