Funeral services for Rich Hensley, 66 year old former Gillette man who passed away early Wednesday morning at his home in Riverton, Wyoming, will be held Monday, July 15th at 10:00 a.m. from the Calvary Community Church at 631 N. Commercial Dr. in Gillette with Pastor Pete Friese officiating. Visitation will be held from the Harness Funeral Home in Buffalo from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and at the Calvary Community Church on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at 3:00 on Monday in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with the VFW and American Legion in charge of military graveside honors. Donations in Rich’s memory may be made to the NRA in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Rich requested casual dress at his funeral. Richard Lee Hensley was born on September 16, 1946 in Albany, California to Jack and Martha Hensley. As a baby he moved with his family to Gillette where he grew up and went to school. He attended Campbell County High School and later attended the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City. He took a job with the City of Gillette as an electrician and later built houses with Engdahl Construction. He worked for 10 years for the Wyoming Highway Department where he was eventually promoted to shop foreman. In 1988 he started Hensley Trucking which he operated for a year and a half. In 1990 he went to work as a Correctional Officer with the Wyoming State Prison in Rawlins. He was married on April 9th, 1996 in Sheridan to Jody Eubanks and they made their home in Rawlins. He retired in 2006 and in 2007 they moved to Riverton where they lived until the time of his death.
Rich was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, shooting, riding four wheelers and cars in general. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Jody of Riverton; three sons, Cody Hensley and his wife Lindsay of Thermopolis, Justin Hensley and his wife Krystal of Gillette and Robert Eubanks of Williston, North Dakota; two daughters, Georgette Shoultz and her husband Jeff of Riverton and Heather Prestwood of Gillette; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
