Paul Floretta, 60, of Sheridan, died Tuesday, October 20, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Paul was born December 12, 1948, in Sheridan to Miles and Ruth (Humes) Floretta.. He attended Woodland Park School and graduated from Sheridan High School. He was inducted into the Army where he was trained as a mechanic. Paul worked as welder at Craftco Metals for twenty one years; prior to that he worked at Decker Coal. He married Susie (Carpenter) Lee on August 16, 2003.
His passion was snowmobiling. Paul mostly enjoyed time with family and friends, whether it be with Bud Light, cards, visiting, etc. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and gardening. He was highly respected for his mountain knowledge and was referred to as "the trail boss." He was instrumental in getting the Red Grade Warming Hut in place and keeping it up. He was a member of the Big Horn Mountain Snomads and the Sheridan Elk's Club.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Floretta. He is survived by his wife, Susie, and his father, Miles, both of Sheridan, his sister Karen (Ron) Foutch, Carlton, WA, and brothers Mark ( Joanne) Floretta, Florissant, MO, and David (Betty) Floretta, Port Susan, WA. He is also survived by his daughter, Julie (Leon) Phelps, Gillette, and stepsons, Bob Lee, Indianapolis, IN, and Marc (Cidgem) Lee of Ranchester, and three grandchildren, Mason and Madison Phelps and Alden Coffey..
Visitation will be Sunday, October 25, 6 to 9 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 26, 10:00 a.m., at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend John Meyers officiating. Internment will follow at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
A gathering for friends and family will be at the Elk's Lodge following the services. A memorial snowmobile ride and gathering will be held at Arrowhead Lodge on December 12.
