Orval M. Flack, 86, went to the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 peacefully of natural causes with his family at his side. Dad, born March 19, 1926, in Nassau MN was the youngest of 12. He joined 4 of his brothers in the army at the young age of 17, serving 2 tours of duty in the Pacific. After an honorable discharge Dad met the love of his life, Florence Burfiend and were married. A union that lasted 64 years. After losing their first born, Orval Jr. to illness at 1 ½ years old, they continued their family, eventually moving to Sheridan in 1959. Four more son’s and two daughters were all raised in Sheridan.
Dad trucked lumber for 25 years buying from the mills in Missoula and Livingston and selling to farmers and ranchers along the way. At age 60 Dad was hired on at Spring Creek mine driving a haul truck and never missed a days work in the 7 years he was there. This amazing work ethic also drove mom and dad to buy and remodel as many as 20 houses in the Sheridan area.
Dad’s favorite thing was relaxing at their little cabin in Story with Mom, kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws, neighbors and friends. Also Mom and Dad had fun meeting up with relatives and friends in Deadwood. A man of few words Dad spoke wisdom in volumes and showed his love of family in the same way.
Preceded in death by their first born son Orval, his grandson Brian Flack, all of his siblings and his parents. Dad leaves behind his loving wife Florence, 6 children; Mike (Barbie) Flack, Mark Flack, Steve (Kathy) Flack, Rita (Rich) Camp, Kelly (Gary) Pates, Dan Flack, numerous grandchildren, neices, nephews, and friends.
Hard working loving husband, father, grandfather, brother in law, uncle and friend. Dad will really be missed. Go and rest peacefully now Dad. We love you and will see you on the other side.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
