Funeral services for Mary Bruce Earle, resident of Basin, Wyoming who passed away August 18, 2013 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, will be held in Oregon in the summer of 2014.
Mary Bruce Crane was born June 8, 1926 in Medford, Oregon to Leona Colthurst Crane and Louis Allen Crane. She grew up in Medford, attended Jackson Elementary, and graduated from Medford High in 1944. She was an archer, and active in Girl Scouts. In 1946, she married Eugene Lloyd Earle in Eugene, Oregon, then a ranger at Crater Lake National Park. Later they resided in Ohio, Tennessee and Maryland.
Mary attended the University of Oregon, graduated in 1958 from Kent State University, obtained an MA from Rutgers in 1964, took a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins in 1967, and undertook studies towards a doctorate at Hopkins and other schools. She taught mathematics in Maumee and Garfield Heights, Ohio, at Dulaney High School in Towson, Maryland, and Morgan State College in Baltimore, before joining the American Universities abroad, where she taught in Bangkok, Thailand from 1968 and Cairo, Egypt until 1987.
In 1988, she moved to Buffalo, Wyoming, to Thermopolis, WY in 1989, and to Basin, WY in 2001.
She is survived by her sister Wendy Williams, her children, BJ, Susan and Michael Earle, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Helen Hoy.
