LeRoy "Jack" Husman, 85, of Sheridan, passed away at his residence on July 19, 2009.
Jack was born in Sheridan on March 19, 1924 to Oscar and Christine Husman. He attended Sheridan schools and was a January 1942 graduate of Sheridan High School, earning the MVP award fro outstanding football. Jack enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and proudly served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. On November 15, 1947 he married Betty Kelley in Cheyenne, WY and they raised three children. Jack followed in the footsteps of his father and brothers and was a skilled brick mason building his family home in 1948 where he resided until his death. He and his three brothers were partners in Husman Brothers, Inc., a heavy construction company involved in highway construction in Wyoming and Montana. Later, he and his brother Harold, formed another construction company, General Enterprises. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #520 and the American Legion. Jack and Betty enjoyed many years at their cabin on Rapid Creek and later, winters in Arizona.
Jack was preceded in death by his four brothers; and his wife, Betty. He is survived by his children, Pete Husman (Kae Kethman) and Mike Husman (Marie), all of Sheridan, and daughter, Nancy Garber (Roy), of Big Horn; his nine grandchildren, Suzanne Krenzelok (Dwyane) of Poplar Grove, IL, Kari Husman of Rockford, IL, Matt Husman of Denver, CO, Mark Husman of Casper, WY, Jennifer Garber (Philip Walker) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kathryn Garber Primrose (Paul) of Lander, WY, Abbey Garber Hagerman (Dan) of Laramie, WY, and Justin and Josh Kethman both of Sheridan; and his seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Phil Wold officiating. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
