Jonette Marie Green

Jonette Marie Green, 80, of Ranchester, WY passed away in Sheridan, Friday, September 14, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 28, 1931 to Edward and Olive Nelson in Burns, Montana. She spent her grade school years attending Burns country school, before the family moved to Shephard, MT. She graduated from Shephard High School at age 16 in 1948 as the school's valedictorian. She enrolled in Rocky Mountain College and after three years, transferred to Eastern to get her teaching degree. She took her first teaching job in 1951 in a rural school in Wise River, Montana. The following year she took a job as a first grade teacher in Lodge Grass, MT which became her home.

In 1954, she married Walter Green Jr. Along with raising four children Julane, Jan, Jon and Jared, they raised sheep pigs and chickens. She took a break from teaching to focus on the farm and raising the children. She started teaching again in 1965. She missed being in the classroom and wanted to be back enriching the minds of young ones. Walter and her divorced in 1978. She continued to teach in Lodge Grass until 1989 where she moved to Sheridan and became roommates with her good friend Carole Graham. They lived and laughed together until she bought her house in 1994 and moved to Ranchester, Wyoming. She was very involved in the town library, playing piano for Ranchester Community Church where she felt blessed to find a second family and was an avid fan of Tongue River Eagles sports and she loved cheering for the Montana Grizzlies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Nelson and great grandson Ezekiel Timm.

She is survived by her brother, Burton (Doris) Nelson of Portland, TX, daughter Julane (Arthur Fritzpatrick Jr.) Green of Hardin, MT, Jan (Gil) Harzke, Jon (Valerie) Green, and Jared (Edith) Green, all of Sheridan, WY. Grandchildren Joey, Sonja and Joshua Green, Monica Hanson Carter, Kendra Carmody, Levi , Brandon, and Dylan Green, Nickole Schlauch, Rachel Osbourne, Katie Sadler and Charlie (Mallory) Sadler, and Heather Harzke, great grandchildren Kaela, Emmett, Mariah, Kamryn, Rykert, Quade, Kylie, Emily and Allison and many other special family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held for Jonette at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. A reception will follow in the Kane Reception Hall.

There will be an Inurnment for family and friends at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Dayton Cemetery.
