Private family services for Joe Farrell, 87 year old Buffalo resident who passed away early Friday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo will be held by his family. Donations in Mr. Farrell’s memory may be made to Home Health in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Joseph Edward Farrell was born on May 22, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Lottie Farrell. He grew up and received his schooling in Chicago. He enlisted in the Merchant Marine and was a seaman for 44 years. He retired in 1989 and moved to his home in Buffalo where he lived until the time of his death.
Joe believed life was the greatest show on earth and he wanted to see the encore. He traveled the world over as a Merchant Marine, but was content to view it all from his window. His goal was to be 100 years old but whiskey and cigarettes prevented that from happening. Joe would tell you “the good times don’t roll forever” and “there is no free lunch”.
Joe is survived by two sisters, Ellen Kirven of Buffalo and Mary Geiger Schreiber of Toledo, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother James Farrell.
