Joan Lemons, 70, of Sheridan, Wyoming, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Lemons was born April 23, 1943 in Fort Lupton, Colorado to George and Marguerite (Steele) Dowdy. Her first year of school was in Moorcroft, Wyoming, then the family moved to Upton where she attended school and graduated from Upton High School.
Joan started her career doing secretarial work in Colorado, but she found her passion combing her love of people and her talents as a cook. Joan poured many cups of coffee and touched many hearts at Bear Lodge, Arrowhead, the Kickshaw Kitchen, Crazy Woman Saloon, and the Branding Iron.
Joan married Waford Lemons in Dayton, Wyoming on July 8, 2012.
She was always involved in community activities, whether in her church, or at the Dayton School Benefit Club, just to name a couple. She had many interests and hobbies, but her favorite things were her family and friends, the mountains, and art. Joan loved painting, playing the piano, and admiring the work of others. In addition, any trip that might give her an opportunity to frequent a slot machine was also her favorite.
Mrs. Lemons was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Joan is survived by her husband, Waford, of Sheridan, Wyoming; two sons, David Plymell, of Dayton, Wyoming, and David Lemons, of Sheridan, Wyoming; one daughter, Kristi Gleason, of Banner, Wyoming; one sister, Lois “Ann” Erb, of Gillette, Wyoming; and a large and loving extended family.
A Celebration of Life for Joan will be 1:00 P. M. Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at the Dayton Community Hall with family and friends. Arrangements are pending with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Memorials in memory of Mrs. Lemons may be made to the American Cancer Society, 333 S. Beach St., Casper, WY 82601
