Jerry Lee O'Daniels, 75, of Sheridan passed away on December 19, 2012 at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Jerry was born on October 8, 1937 to parents Hugh and Lois (Plaster) O'Daniels in Sheridan, WY. His mother later married George Pense and together they raised Jerry and his siblings. At sixteen he joined the U.S. Navy for four years. He met and married Irene (Sams) Portwine and they were married on July 1, 1967.
Jerry was active in his church, he volunteered many hours to the thrift store and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He enjoyed horses and watching bull riding at the local rodeos and on television. His work history consisted of 15 years at Decker Coal as a mechanic, logging and working for various ranches.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois Pense, sister, Zola Schaeffer and by his son, Russel O'Daniels. He is survived by his wife, Irene, two step-sons; Ernest Portwine (Victoria Boffa), Boyd Portwine as well as a step-daughter, Sandy Rasmussen, along with ten grandchildren and fourteen great- grandchildren.
Services for Jerry will be held at 12:00 on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. A reception will follow at the church. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
