Longtime Buffalo resident, Jean M. Frey, passed away peacefully, in the company of her family, on March 02, 2013 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 90.
Born and raised on a ranch outside Rozet, Wyoming, Jean attended school in Rozet, along with her future husband, Louis A. Frey.
Jean and Lou married in Sheridan and settled in Buffalo in 1949, where they raised their family.
Her first job was teaching school in Montana. With the advent of children, she began what she considered her life’s most important work of being a mom and raising her kids.
Lou’s family project, the Buffalo Golf Course, kept Jean busy manning the club house during golf season during the 50’s and 60’s, before the “real” golf course was built. She enjoyed playing on Ladies’ Day and competing in the couple’s events on weekends. Later on, she worked part time at JC Penney. In retirement, Jean enjoyed more golf, many road trips with Lou, and volunteering with St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, as well as various community organizations.
Jean was predeceased by Lou and is survived by her children and their spouses: Bob and Gail Frey of Las Vegas, NV, Jim and Lois Frey of Cloquet, MN, and JoAn and John Beyer of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
At a private graveside service on June 27, 2013, Jean was buried next to Lou at Willow Grove Cemetery. Father Pete Johnson, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, officiated.
