Irma Irlene Wallace of Sheridan, WY went to be with her Lord on Sunday February 17, 2013.
Irma was born to A.D. and Mable Compton on November 11, 1935 in Grandfield, OK. She was the youngest of 11 children. The family moved to California when she was four. She graduated from Tulare High School in 1953. She met the love of her life William “Lonnnie” Wallace in high school and later married him on April 10, 1953. Due to Lonnie’s job they moved quite a bit. They lived in California, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and finally settling in Wyoming.
Irma held many jobs, her last job was at the Story Fish Hatchery as a tour and educational guide. Her favorite times were when the grade schools would come because she loved interacting with children. Lonnie and Irma had three children, Rick, Nathan, and Rhonda who she loved with all her heart. She was an amazing woman who would help anyone in need. She loved to crochet, read, shop for antiques, and relax in the Big Horn Mountains. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, her sons Emanuel and Rick, and grandchild Tony. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lonnie, son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Trudy Wallace, daughter and son-in-law Scott and Rhonda Wollen, daughter-in-law Sharon Wallace, grandsons Zach, Jimmy, David, and Scotty, granddaughter Lara, great grandchildren Alie, Kaylee, Liam, Barrett, and Jude.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Irma’s life will take place this summer in the Big Horns. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irma’s name to the donor’s choice.
We are rejoicing as a family that our beautiful loved one is in heaven with her Lord. We would like to thank all of our extended family and friends for all their prayers and support. We could not have made it through this difficult process without you.
