Imogene L. Mitchell

Imogene "Emmy" Mitchell, 99, of Sheridan passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Westview Health Care Center.

Emmy was born November 12, 1912 on a farm near Fergus Falls, MN. She was a daughter of Conrad E. and Emilia Eliason Nelson. In 1915 her parents homesteaded in the Nashua, MT area. She attended country schools close to the homestead, and graduated from Nashua High School. After graduation she cooked for the CBC (Horse Outfit) at the Sunday Creek Unit out of Miles City, MT. In march 1932 she and Earl Mitchell were married in Miles City, MT. Earl also worked for the CBC.

Four sons were born to this union, George, Carsie, Dallas, and Parke. They lived and worked on ranches at Hardin, Decker, and White Sulpher Springs, MT and Recluse and Banner, WY. After retirement Earl and Emmy enjoyed warm winters in Florida and Arizona for several years.

Emmy was a good horsewoman, a great cook, a wonderful mother, a fun gramma, and a friend to all. She will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her as "Gramma Mitchell".

Emmy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, son George, and infant grandson Craig, and a brother, Milford Nelson. She is survived by sons Carsie (Ginger) of Ashland, MT, Dallas (Marcia) and Parke (Julie) all of Sheridan, WY and daughter-in-law Christina Mitchell of Gillette, WY, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a sister in law Hazel Nelson of Fergus Falls, MN, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Emmy will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sheridan Elks Memorial Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Elks.
