Maxine Wilson, 87, of Lodge Grass, Montana, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in Sheridan, Wyoming, at Sheridan Manor.
Maxine was born on September 18, 1922, to Ed and Maude Wilkes in Sheridan, Wyoming. She married Jack Wilson in 1941 and they purchased the High School Hill Store in 1949. She enjoyed weekends at the cabin, horse races and riding her 80 CC Mini Enduro Yamaha motorcycle for pleasure and for moving cattle. She was the ultimate hostess, whether it be ice skating parties or branding and cattle drive picnics. Maxine belonged to the Jr. Women’s Club and DOES in her younger years, and she was an active member of Cowbelles when she was older. She was a beautiful seamstress, she enjoyed playing the piano, and she was a great ranch wife. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Francis Wilkes, Burl Wilkes and Merlin Wilkes. She is survived by her husband, Jack Wilson; son Edward (Colleen)Wilson of Lodge Grass, MT, and daughter Jacque (Scott) Friedrick of Sheridan, WY; sister Betty Young of Cincinatti, Ohio; grandchildren Wendy (Kenny) Balkenbush of Story, WY, Jessie (Casey) Cunningham of Sheridan, WY, E.J. Panetta (Shiann) of Sheridan, WY, and Laurie (Narvin) Russaw of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren MaKenna Balkenbush of Story, WY, DeLani Cunningham and Bailey Cunningham of Sheridan, WY and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Gifford officiating.
