Frank “Tad” Page Armstrong, 65, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the VA Medical Center.
Tad was born on December 5, 1947 in Dunkirk, NY the son of Frank and Mary (Meyer) Ritenburg. Tad's father passed away in 1955 and his mother remarried in 1957 to James E. Armstrong. James adopted the three children and they moved many times due to his Air Force career.
Tad graduated from Douglas High School in Rapid City, SD in 1965. He spent two years at the University of SD, then joined the Air Force and did a tour in Southeast
Asia. After serving eight years, he finished his last tour in Thailand.
Tad started his career with the State of Wyoming as an engineer in Laramie. He joined the Highway Patrol and was stationed in Kemmerer, Evanston, Rawlins and Laramie. After a short time in California selling real estate, he returned to Wyoming and worked for the Port of Entry. He became a supervisor and was stationed in Cheyenne, Lusk and Sheridan.
Tad enjoyed hunting, fishing and water sports. He traveled to Canada several times in pursuit of their trophy fishing.
Throughout his life, Tad was married four times. He is survived by his brother Jim, (Cindy) Armstrong, his sister Barb (Vic) Tise, son Ty Hopkins, four granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to Bruce Knudsvig and Barb Miller for their care of Tad during his illness as well as the Sheridan Hospice and the VA Medical Center.
Memorials to honor Tad may be made to the Wyoming Highway Patrol Scholarship Fund at 5300 Bishop Blvd, Cheyenne, WY 82009-3340.
Services for Tad will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Jones officiating.
