Elizabeth "Betty" Allen

Elizabeth "Betty" Allen, 56, of Sheridan, passed away at the VA Medical Center on Thursday, April 22, 2010.

Betty was born in Roundup, Montana on March 13, 1954. Betty was one of nine children. At an early age, the family was divided and the children were sent to live in adoptive homes. After high school graduation, she enlisted the US Army and served from 1973 through 1976. She was stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, and the Pentagon. Following active duty she served for seven years in both the Wyoming and South Dakota National Guard. She served in the US Army as a communications specialist. During her service in the Wyoming National Guard she served as a JAG administrative assistant as well as an administrative assistant to the Wyoming Inspector General. Betty was well traveled and made friends throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Betty was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Allen of Shell, WY, sister, Janice Reed, and her nephews, Barry and Cecil Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Alice Morrison, (Robert), Liz Smith,(Claude) Ann Phelps, (Steve), Linda Connoly, (Chip), Susanl Tippets, (Jeryl), Caroline Cheatham, and her brothers Paul Cade and Wilber Cade, and Ed Sharen. Also surviving are her cousins, Jim and Juanita Campbell, and special friends Kate Wallop and Tasiwoo Apa’, numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 10:00am, at Holy Name Church with Father Rob Spaulding officiating. Burial will be at Sheridan Cemetery with Military Honors to follow.
