Elizabeth Ann Dewey, born August 17, 1931, passed away February 20, 2013 at home as she had wanted after over 17 years of fighting Parkinson’s Disease. She had those she loved and who loved her at her bedside.
Mrs. Dewey had been a resident of Sheridan for over 35 years. She was raised in Tucson, Arizona where she was one of the few children of that era to come down with and survive polio. When she was 16, she married John Dewey who would be her husband for the next 65 years. Prior to moving to Sheridan, she worked alongside her husband on their farm in Illinois and as a school bus driver in Arizona along with being a wife and raising four children. After moving to Sheridan, she spent most of her time being a housewife, mother and helping raise grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by John Dewey, her husband of 65 years; her daughter Mary (William) Alexander of Bremerton, sons David (Wendy) Dewey of Sheridan, Carlton (Janeen) Dewey of Sheridan and Clifford Dewey of South Pasadena; grandsons John Thomas Dewey of Huntington Beach, Bill (Jennifer) Prentice of Dallas, Kip (Christine) Prentice of Boise, and granddaughters Bridger Dewey, Brittani Dewey, Kylee (Joe) Konkel, Jennifer (Travis) Bickel of Sheridan and Megan (Adam) Vogt, Shantina Alexander and Jessica Alexander of Bremerton; and great-grandchildren Alayna Emens, Eleanor Prentice, Amelia Prentice, Parker Ford, Easton Bickel, Benjamin Prentice and Oliver Prentice.
Private Family Services will be held at a later date.
