Funeral services for Dorothy Kovalik, 92 year old long time Buffalo resident who passed away Thursday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Monday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alana Lamirato officiating. Visitation will be held from the funeral home chapel on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Mrs. Kovalik’s memory may be made to the Amie Holt Care Center or the St. Luke’s ELCA in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

Dorothy Marie Kovalik was born on May 22, 1920 in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania to Roy and Minnie Hall. She grew up and received her education in Muhlenberg and Reading, Pennsylvania and graduated from Standard Evening High School in Reading. After high school Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper in Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. She was married to Gustav Kovalik in 1945. Gustav was killed in a military plane crash and on March 12, 1948 Dorothy married Gustav’s brother, John Kovalik in Dumont, New Jersey and they made their home in Dumont where Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper. They semi –retired and in 1972 they moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where she was a bookkeeper for the Thom Ranch. After full retirement they continued to live in Buffalo.
Dorothy was a member of St. Luke’s ELCA Lutheran Church and a past member of the Old North Reformed Church in Dumont. She was also a member of the 65th Division Association and was a Gold Star Wife. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, traveling, and being home with her family and beloved pets.
She is survived by her husband John of Buffalo; one son Gus Kovalik of Caledonia, New York and one daughter, Carolyn Foss and her husband John of Esko, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and one brother, John Hall.
