Funeral Services for Donald Loden, 82 year old Buffalo man who passed away early Wednesday morning while surrounded by his family, at the V.A. Medical Center in Sheridan, will be held Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00 a.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with his grandson, Erick Loden officiating. Visitation will be held from the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday from 1:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A private family interment will be held after the funeral. Donations in Mr. Loden’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Donald Erick Loden was born on April 26, 1931 in Stacyville, Iowa to Erick and Dina Loden. He grew up on a farm near Osage, Iowa where he went to school. He graduated from Osage High School with the class of 1948. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force and served all over the U.S. and Guam. He was married on February 23rd, 1957 in Osage to Alice Keough and they made their first home in Las Vegas, Nevada. The military moved them around the country and after three Air Force Medals of Accommodation and 22 years Don retired as a Master Sgt. out of F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne in 1970. After retirement he attended the Community College of Denver where he received an Associate’s Degree in one year. After receiving his degree he stayed on at the Community College as an instructor. In 1975 he retired and moved to Buffalo where he and Alice owned and operated a fishing bait business for 11 years. They continued living in Buffalo until the time of his death.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. The special love of his life was his family and the wonderful time that he enjoyed with them all.
He is survived by Alice, his wife of 56 years of Buffalo; two sons, Dave Loden and his wife Cindy of Buffalo and Tony Loden and his wife Sally of Rolling Hills, Wyoming; one sister Emma Seckar of Charles City, Iowa; four grandchildren Clover Dowdy and her husband Ryan of Buffalo, Kara Loden of Mt. View, Wyoming, Erick Loden and his wife Alicia of Buffalo, Stormy Woodall and her fiancé Matt Foertsch of Minot, North Dakota and three great-grandchildren, Mason and Garrett Dowdy of Buffalo and Jillian Foertsch of Minot, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents one brother and eight sisters.
