Dolores Elaine (Melvin) Everson, 83, of Banner passed away on Monday, June 11th at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan.
Dolores was born in Clinton, Iowa on May 29th, 1929 to parents Clara (Kane) and Clifford Melvin. She graduated from Lyons High School. In 1947 she met her first husband Elmer Stevens and were married in 1948 for a short time. She gave birth to a daughter Bonnie Jean (Stevens) Hendricks. She later met her second husband and was married to Robert Floyd Everson on Feb. 17th, 1950.
Dolores was a homemaker who spent most of her time chasing four rebel boys. She was blessed with one daughter with Bob. Dee as she liked to be called was the glue that kept the family inline while Bob was overseas. Dee was a Army wife for the first seventeen years of her marriage to Bob. Dee should of received a medal for traveling by air with five children ages 3 months to 5 years when they were stationed in Germany for three years. Dee became part Gypsy as they were transferred every 1 ½ to 2 years. Bob and Dee finally retired in 1967 in Minnesota. They moved to Toad Lake in Minnesota where they made and sold all kinds of crafts at local craft shows. Bob and Dee moved to Sheridan in 2002 to be closer to family. Dee loved her family, especially the 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Stitchery and sewing were some of the things she enjoyed along with playing cards and games. The last one and a half years her friends at Day Break brought her so much joy.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Martin Melvin and John Melvin; two sisters Mardella Wagner and Rosella Melvin and her husband Bob of 58 years; one granddaughter and one great grandson. She is survived by her brother Ron Melvin (Ft. Meyer, FL) and sister Mary (Maniccia) (Cedar Park, TX), stepson Terry Everson (Summerville S C), daughter Bonnie(Steven) Hendricks (Clinton, IA), son Greg Everson (Fargo, ND), son Bob Everson (Banner, WY), daughter Kathi Olson (Fargo, ND), son Mike Everson (Littleton, CO), son Rick Everson (Littleton, CO), 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Memorials to honor Dee can be made to the Sheridan Senior Center Day Break, 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, WY 82801.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Kane Funeral Home. A reception will be held following the service in the Kane Reception Hall.
