Dewain M. Zeglin, 78, of Sheridan, WY died Thursday, June 10, 2010, in his Sheridan home.
Dewain was born June 22, 1931, on the family farm near Anthon, Iowa, to Fred & Ruby (Fixsel) Zeglin.
Dewain grew up on the farm, attended country school and graduated from high school in Anthon. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where after basic training he went to weather school and then served in Japan during the Korean War. After the service, he returned home to work the farm. Dewain married Diane Newman in 1955. They later divorced. He went to work for the U.S. Weather Service in Huron, S. Dakota and later transferred to Sheridan in 1964. Dewain married Shirley Hall on December 28, 1971. He worked for the weather service until he retired in 1993. After retirement, he worked part time as a weather spotter. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge #520. Dewain enjoyed going to his cabin, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Dewain was preceded in death by his parents.
Dewain is survived by his wife Shirley; sons Fred Zeglin & wife Colleen of Kalispell, MT, Greg Hall & wife Michelle of Vail, CO and Lonn Hall of Sparks, NV; daughters Pam Rapp & husband Bill of Sheridan and Teresa Hall & husband Doug Rager of Snowmass, CO; sister JoAnn Bengford & husband Scott of Ft. Collins, CO; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11:00am on Saturday (June 19th) from First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Inurnment will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery with Elks Lodge officers officiating and military rites by the Wyo. National Guard and American Legion. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
