Delbert Ventling

Sheridan resident Delbert Ventling, 77, passed away August 28, 2009 at his residence.

Born November 17, 1931 in Dayton, Wyoming to Floyd and Laura (Crogan) Ventling, Delbert completed high school and served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He wed Laura Mae Smith on September 14, 1960 in Gillette, Wyoming, and worked most of his life as a logger and realtor. He loved spending time with his family. His hobbies included gold mining, camping, and fishing. A lifetime member of the VFW, he created the Dayton post in 1968. Delbert was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Bud, and sister Etta Farnsworth. Survivors include his wife, daughters Ivy Davis and Kimberly Gilkey and sons, Raymond and Patrick Ventling, sisters Ester Boyko and Rosie Dorothy and 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren..

Private family services will be held on the Big Horn Mountains.
