David R. Roberts, 67, of Sheridan, WY died Tuesday, December 2, 2009, in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Billings, MT.
David was born August 17, 1942, in Sheridan to Elmer & Lavoris (Wyrick) Roberts.
David grew up and attended schools in California. He returned to the Sheridan area in 1961. David married Cheryl Pease on August 12, 1962, in Lodge Grass, MT. They moved to Oregon in 1968 where he worked as a meat cutter. They moved back to Sheridan in 1975 and he worked for Jersey Creamery until he operated the Broadway Exchange store. He sold the store in the mid 1990’s and went to work at Shipton’s. David spent summers in Alaska with his son Monte guiding fishermen. After retirement, he ran his knife sharpening business. David’s faith in God led him to become a Deacon in the Bethesda Worship Center. He was a life member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the mountains.
David is survived by his wife Cheryl of Sheridan; sons David of Dayton, WY, Rodney of Victor, ID, Monte of Soldotna, Alaska, Keith of Sheridan and Rick of Monterey, CA; daughter Debra Gardner of Sutler Creek, CA; brother Michael Roberts of Sheridan; sisters Barbara Ellis of Sheridan, Doris Ledford of Sheridan, Judy Roberts of Big Horn, WY and Iva Graham of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1:00pm on Saturday (Dec. 5th) from Bethesda Worship Center with the Rev. Scott Lee officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
