Dale Joe Yelton, age 69 of Dayton, Wyoming died on Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, Montana.
Dale was born July 1, 1943 in Shidler, Oklahoma to Charles and Irene Yelton. He married Wanetta Wilson on November 16, 1973 in Kenai, Alaska. He attended college in Casper, Wyoming and then went on to become a Maintenance Supervisor with Phillips Petroleum in Texas, Kansas, Alaska, and Norway for over 20 years. Then he returned to Wyoming to the Ranchester/Dayton area where he and his spouse owned and operated businesses in the community for 20 years. Before retiring he returned to his employment as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Tongue River School District.
He enjoyed ranching (raising cows, horses, and mules), traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, and the Big Horn Mountains. Ongoing creative welding projects were his hobby. He loved spending time outdoors with his family and friends. The annual family hunting trips were some of his greatest memories. In his last years, he spent the winter months traveling with his wife in their RV around the United States, Canada, and into Mexico. His sidekick was Katie, his border collie of 11 years. He was a member of the Dayton Community Church. Many years were spent with the Billings Clinic Cardiac Team and a special thank you is sent out to them for the loving care they gave to him.
Dale was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife; his two sisters; his children (Joe, John, Tammy, and Brenda) and their spouses; his ten grandchildren and by "Katie", his beloved dog.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Dayton Community Church. A reception for family and friends is being held after the services in the Conference Room at the Padlock Ranch.
