Cyril "Cy" B. Belus, 89, of Sheridan, Wyoming passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Westview Health Care Center.
Cyril Belus was born on August 28, 1920 in Sheridan, Wyoming to John and Dorothy (Mikula) Belus. He married Barbara Obert on November 12, 1952. Cy was a veteran of World War II. He served in both Europe and the Pacific with the 10th Mountain Division earning the rank of Corporal. He also received the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, European Theatre Ribbon, Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Cy spent most of his life as a rancher in Wyoming and Montana. He was well known as a livestock handler and loved horses, especially the quarter horse. Cy was an active member of the Holy Name Parish, a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Phil Sheridan Council 2104 and a Life Member of the Sheridan Elks Lodge 520.
Cy was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and nine brothers. Survivors include his wife Barbara; son Tom Belus; daughter Debora Lydic both of Sheridan; three granddaughters; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at Kane Funeral Home with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Holy Name Church with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Elks Cemetery.
