Graveside funeral services for Bonnie Young Thoma, 82 year old Buffalo woman who passed away Thursday afternoon at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Monday, August 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Reverend Eli Dowell officiating. Donations in Bonnie’s memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice in care of the Adams Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Bonnie Marie Thoma was born on September 30, 1928 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Ralph and Williey Robinson. As a young girl she moved with her family to Clearmont where she attended schools. The family moved into Buffalo in the early 1940’s where she attended the Johnson County High School and graduated with the class of 1947. After high school she worked for the telephone company for a couple of years. She was married on January 18, 1949 in Denver to William M. Young and they made their home in Denver until 1951 when they moved back to Buffalo. Bonnie worked at Mullholland Floral in Buffalo for several years and Mr. Young was a building contractor. Mr. Young passed away suddenly in 1975 and Bonnie continued living in Buffalo. She was married on September 5th, 1996 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada to James Thoma and they made their home in Buffalo. James and Bonnie continued living in Buffalo until the time of her death. Bonnie was a great cook, enjoyed her gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and her pets. She was an accomplished artist and sold many of her paintings.
She is survived by her husband James Thoma of Buffalo; one son Don Young of Buffalo, two daughters, Linda Hockett and her husband Dustin of Buffalo and Dollie Fraley and her husband Dan also of Buffalo; one brother Clair Robinson and his wife Jo of Buffalo and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and one brother Willard Robinson.
