Memorial services for Betty Rhoads, 83, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 24, 2012, at the Harold Jarrard Park in Kaycee, WY. Cremation has taken place at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan.
Betty Louise Rhoads went to be with her husband, Bud, September 15, 2012. She was born July 28, 1929, to James Otis and Anna Mabel Edwards in Lawver, WY, on the family homestead. She was raised and went to school there. She was the sixth of eight children.
Bud and Betty were married in Hardin, MT, on their way to the sale barn with a load of cows.
Betty was a waitress for many years, starting out in Gillette. She and Bud owned the Cowboy Kitchen in Kaycee. They sold it and then she worked at the Country Inn, until ill health forced her to retire at age 80.
Betty loved working in her yard and gardening. She also was an avid collector of little Indian dolls. She especially loved Christmas Eve when all of her kids and grandkids could be there. She made delicious oyster stew and the best chicken and homemade noodles you could ever eat!
Betty is survived by son, Dan (Mary) Rhoads; Leanna (Rome) Taylor, Peggy LeDoux and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and one brother.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brotheres, three sisters, her husband and one son-in-law.
Lunch will be served for family and friends at the Country Inn in Kaycee immediately following the service.
