Funeral services for Barb Bornholtz, 69 year old long time Buffalo resident who passed away suddenly November 7th at her home in Buffalo, will be held Monday, November 25th at 2:00 p.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held from the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Barb’s memory may be made to the Johnson County Community Resource Center in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Barbara Ramona Bornholtz was born on February 11, 1944 in LeMars, Iowa to James and Margaret Bauler. She grew up and went to school in Merrill, Iowa and attended Merrill High School. She was married on December 8, 1961 in Iowa to John Bornholtz and they made their home in Iowa for a short time before moving to Buffalo, Wyoming where Mr. Bornholtz worked as a mechanic and Barb was a homemaker. She was divorced in 1976 and went to work as a housekeeper at the Mountain View Motel. She continued living in Buffalo until the time of her death. Barb was a past member of the Church of Christ. Her passion was visiting older people in the nursing home and hospital.
She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Raney a Texas State Trooper from Tahoka, Texas; Irene Lane, a Restaurant Manager from Florrisant, Colorado and Lynn DeLong, a Registered Nurse and Hospice Supervisor from Wellman, Texas; five grandchildren, Waylon Varner of Levelland, Texas; Jason Lane also of Levelland, Texas; Chelsea Peery of Lubbock, Texas; Heather Lane of Florrisant, Colorado and Nathan DeLong of Wellman, Texas. She was preceded in death by her Mother and her step-father, two brothers, two sisters, one son Daniel Wayne Bornholtz and one granddaughter, Bobbi Jane Varner.
