Alan Nicholas Peterson, 81, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He was born on September 19, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Elmer & Frances Peterson. He attended Minnetonka Schools and graduated in 1950. Served two years in the Navy and was honorably discharged in February of 1953. He married Marlis Helen Swanson on September 19, 1953. To this union four daughters were born. They made their home in Deephaven Park, MN., until 1971 when they moved to Sheridan.

Alan worked in construction and started his own business, Tongue River Woodcraft, as a custom cabinet builder. He retired in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was an antique car enthusiast, loved time with his coffee partners, car club, gun club, and Shrine buddies. He was a member of the Kalif Shrine and the Big Horn A’s.

Proceeded in death by his brother Eugene, his parents, his wife Marlis, and son-in-law Lee Robinson. Survived by loving companion Yvonne Prill, daughters Ann Reed, of Sheridan, Shelley Perkins (Wayne) of Buffalo, Julie Reeves (Randy) of Wright, and Heidi Robinson, of Sheridan, along with eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at the Kalif Shrine, 145 West Loucks in Sheridan, at 2pm, Sunday, December 4th. J.J. Dunlap officiating, with a reception to follow. Inurnment with full Military Honors will be held in Minnesota at a later date.
