At their meeting Monday night, the Johnson County School District One Board of Trustees approved the bid package for furniture for Cloud Peak Elementary School, which is currently under construction.
District Business Manager Matt Ramey explained that of the roughly $242,000 in bids that was approved Monday night, only $198,000 will be spent right now with the rest of the funds held in reserves until the project is closer to completion.
The amount of time needed to order furniture and have it delivered in time for the beginning of the school year necessitated ordering it now. All of the essential needs-desks, chairs, etc. will be in this first order while other less essential items like risers for the music department will wait until it is known the funds in reserves in the (F F and E) Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment account are not needed elsewhere due to an unforeseen contingency.
The board approved the bid package on an 8-1 vote, with Greg Haas the lone dissenting vote.
