Saturday University: One of Day College...Minus Homework and Stress

This Saturday is your chance to relive the college experience - or try it out for a day - without the stress of homework, tests, boring lectures or the chance of being buried alive by student loan debts. Saturday University is coming to Sheridan College's C-TEL Auditorium on February 9th, with events starting at 8:30 in the morning.

Director of the Center for A Vital Community at Sheridan college, Amy Albrecht, explains.

Between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., three professors from the University of Wyoming will be delving into topics from basic macronomics and how it relates to politics, to a historical look into the dark side of 19th century doctors, to the biodiversity of Wyoming's wildlife. But as Albrecht explains, these won't be your average lectures.

Associate Professor in the economics department at UW, Klaas Van't Veld, will be kicking off the first lecture at 9 a.m., with his presentation entitled "Give Me Austerity and Fiscal Discipline, But Not Yet." Albrecht describes the content of the second lecture, which kicks off at 10:15.

At 11:30, Professor in the Department of Zoology and Physiology, as well as the director of the Biodiversity Institute, Carlos Martinez del Rio, will be examining the wide variety of wildlife that support our lives and livelihoods here in Wyoming.

The event will close with a free lunch and roundtable discussion between 12:30 and 1:30. Again, Saturday University is coming to Sheridan College's C-TEL Auditorium this Saturday, between 8:30 a.n. and 1:30 in the afternoon. The one-day college experience is entirely free and all are welcome to attend, even if it's for one of the lectures.
