The City of Sheridan has recently considered building additional railroad tracks in order to re-route coal trains around, instead of through, the heart of town. Sheridan Mayor, Dave Kinskey, said they're also beginning to consider what would become of the old tracks and railyard if the trains are diverted.
The city has agreed to conduct a secondary study to examine potential alternative uses for the resources currently in place.
Researchers are interviewing key stakeholders in the community to get an idea of possible secondary uses for the current rail yard.
