Change of Plea and Sentencing Held for Sheridan Man Charged With Multiple Crimes

On February 23, 25-year-old John Kirkpatrick was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery, Domestic Battery and Reckless Driving for an incident that occurred in a vehicle in Sheridan County. Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Kirkpatrick pleaded “guilty” to the domestic battery and reckless driving charges. The aggravated assault and battery charge was dismissed per terms of the plea deal.

District Court Judge John Fenn entered the guilty pleas into the record and accepted the terms and conditions of the plea agreement and sentenced Kirkpatrick to a period of six months in jail for the domestic battery charge, suspended, in lieu of two years of supervised probation, and 30 days in jail for the reckless driving charge, suspended in lieu of six months of probation. The sentence will run concurrent to the sentence for the domestic battery charge. Kirkpatrick received 72 days of credit for time served and was ordered to pay $350 in court costs and $500 in attorney fees.
