Midway through Fire Prevention Week, October 7 through October 13, 2012, as we learn and work on ways to prevent fires it is perhaps fitting to pause and remember two Sheridan Firefighters, Edward N. Green (1940 -2007) and Fred W. Tossie (1887-1929). Sheridan Firefighter's Local 276 is working to incorporate these two individuals and other events described below around a larger than life size statue to be located as shown in this photo representation. About $28,000 is needed to start the full sized sculpture by local artist Jerry Smiley. To "kick start" the fund raising drive $50 raffle tickets are going on sale. After 100 tickets are sold there will be a drawing for the #1 maquette (the sculptor's preliminary model). Tickets are currently available at Sheridan Stationary, Red Velvet and the Fire Department Office - with additional locations coming.
