It's been seven weeks since Sheridan Memorial Hospital took the leap to transition to a new, paperless Electronic Medical Records system. While the transition period from paper files to computer software progresses with efficiency, the hospital's board of trustees authorized additional funds to safeguard the system's server rooms. Hospital CEO, Mike McCafferty:
The board had initially anticipated the redundant cooling system would cost $60,000, but last week, they came to realize they would need more funding, and authorized that up to $13,000 to get the system in place. In addition to extra cooling capacity, hospital policy also provides for extra power supply backup as well.
