HOSPITAL BOARD APPROVES MOVING FORWARD WITH OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER

The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees received their first glimpse of what an outpatient surgery center would look like on the hospital's west campus. Representatives from CTA Architects showed the Board preliminary schematics of the surgery center, and outlined projected costs of the endeavor. When the Board gave Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty approval to pursue the schematic design phase, they agreed on a $5 million facility at 14,000 square feet. However, the preliminary design presented to the Board called for more square footage and a larger price tag. McCafferty explains the change. The Board also approved the hiring of an equipment planner for the surgery center. McCafferty said that once the guaranteed maximum price contract is finalized, that CPI would work with them to procure the equipment and have it installed. The tentative occupancy date for the outpatient surgical center is May of 2010.
