The Rosebud Complex in southeastern Montana continues to grow rapidly, as the six fires that make up the complex are now estimated at over 131,000 acres with 0 percent containment. The six different fires are located anywhere from four to thirty miles south of Rosebud, Montana. Approximately 30 homes remain threatened in the Prairie Rose subdivision. The Wild Horse subdivision, approximately 30 miles south of Rosebud, also remains threatened at this time. The Rosebud Complex is responsible for two primary residences being lost, along with one outbuilding in the Prairie Rose Subdivision.
Hwy 39 is closed from Lame Deer to Colstrip, Highway 212 is closed from Lame Deer to Crow Agency. Any traffic going to Billings will need to take highway 314 on Kirby to Sheridan Wyoming to connect to I-90. Resources include; 12 engines, Two Type 1 Inter-agency Hotshot Crews, 3 tenders; 7 dozers and local initial attack helicopter available. One additional Hotshot Crew, 6 Hand crews and approximately 15 strike teams of engines (5 engines per strike team) are ordered and will be arriving over the next couple days.
