Although Sheridan County Commissioners have instated a ban on private individuals setting off fireworks, public displays are good to go.
The ban was implemented due to wildfire outbreaks throughout the Rockies, with blazes so close the town was draped in smoke for several days. Lead coordinator for Big Horn's 4th of July display, Bruce Burns, recognizes that it's a touchy situation.
Burns said he has controls in place to make sure things don't get out of hand this 4th of July.
The Big Horn fireworks show will be synchronized to music broadcast on 94.9 FM. This year's broadcast will also feature Burns reading the Declaration of Independence at the beginning of the show.
