Egg shipments have kept Story Hatchery personnel busy picking, packing and transporting eggs. In the past weeks, 33 egg shipments were made to 16 hatcheries including three Wyoming Game and Fish Department stations, three private hatcheries and ten other hatcheries in five different states. Just under 1.4 million eggs were shipped including: over 530,000 brook trout eggs, over 260,000 brown trout eggs, 17,000 lake trout eggs, 144,000 splake eggs and 436,000 tiger trout eggs.

According to the WGFD, all eggs are first used to meet in-state requests and any remaining eggs are then made available to other states. These eggs are traded in return for fish that are not reared by the WGFD but are stocked into public waters, such as catfish, walleye, tiger muskie and bass.

Game and Fish officials are also reminding potential ice-fishing anglers that the pole limit is two on all waters in the Sheridan Region, there are expectations for Lake DeSmet and Keyhole Reservoir where anglers can have up to six poles.

WGFD reminds anglers only artificial flies and lures are allowed at Muddy Guard Reservoir #1.

Taking motorized vehicles on the ice is not recommended and is specifically prohibited at Healy Reservoir.

Lake DeSmet has not frozen as of the beginning of 2021, WGFD officials are advising angler to please use extra caution on Lake DeSmet.
