Russell "Rusty" James Wood, 25, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Sheridan, passed away on January 19, 2009 in St. Louis, MO.
Russell was born in Camp Pendleton, CA on December 23, 1983 to James "Randy" and Sherri Wood. He attended Guernsey Sunrise Elementary School before the family moved to Sheridan where he graduated from Sheridan High School in 2002. While in high school Russell was on the debate team and later in adulthood he was a judge for the high school teams. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 2003 and served until his honorable discharge in 2006. Russell received his Associates Degree in Information Systems from the Community College of the Air Force in 2004 and in 2008 received his degree in Pharmacy Technology from Allied College South. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved politics (was a member of the Democratic Party), music, joking around, playing video games, hanging out with friends, travel, volunteering, and movies, especially independent and documentaries.
Russell is survived by his parents, Randy and Sherri Wood, of Sheridan; sister, Shebli Huston and her husband, Matt, of Dayton, WY; and grandparents, Art and Clara Bell Newton of Cheyenne, WY, Edward and Irma Garner of Candler, FL, and Donna Gee of Stayton, OR.
A visitation will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Don Derryberry officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
