A similar incident occurred in Sheridan County last weekend as well. Big Horn resident Cynthia Rhodes has horses that are being kept on some property on County Road 219 east of Clearmont. She phoned Sheridan Media with word that one of the animals had been shot and killed.
Rhodes says that the horse that was shot was a 5-year-old mare that had recently had a colt. A second adult female horse caught some shrapnel, she says, perhaps from a ricocheted bullet.
So does Rhodes think her horses were targeted specifically?
Rhodes is offering a reward for anyone who has any information about this crime. Casey Cunningham, an investigator with the Livestock Board in Sheridan, is working the case.
